ChâteauD'Aubeterre
This hand-crafted piece is a special commission of Château d'Aubeterre.
The fortified entrance of the chateau dates from the 16th century and is now a private house. The main body of the building was completely dismantled stone by stone when the last owner sold it in 1820.
Having visited Aubeterre a few years ago, I can thoroughly recommend it. Lunch in the village square followed by an explore of the underground church.
ChâteauD'Aubeterre is hand-made in Jersey using materials including embossed copper finish metal, enamels and acrylics. Mounted in an gold finish wooden frame. The framed piece measures 22.2cm x 22.2cm.
Situated on the border of the South Charente and the Dordogne, Aubeterre sur Dronne boasts an exceptional cultural heritage which, combined with its beautiful natural surroundings, makes it the perfect place to live and visit.
Officially listed as one of “the most beautiful villages in France” since 1993, it has welcomed pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostella in north west Spain, visitors and tourists for over 1000 years. Two important historical monuments add to the cultural status of Aubeterre sur Dronne; the extraordinary, monolithic, underground Church of St Jean and the Romanesque Church of St Jacques, with its stunning façade.
Visitors and tourists can enjoy meandering through the ups and downs of the narrow streets, popping in to admire the many specialist shops, including a leather worker and potters, and then settling down in the village square, Place Trarieux, at one of the cafés or restaurants, comfortably shaded by ancient lime trees.

Please note that each piece of work is individually handmade and as such has unique pattern and colours. Photographs are representative of the colour and design. The final colour may appear slightly differently on your screen versus actual piece. Also, due to the challenges photographing some of the pieces and because of the materials used, light patterns may show in the photograph that are not on the item.
Items shown in pictures other than the actual piece of art are for display purposes only. Framed pieces are supplied with a wall hanger point on the back. The stands are not included but can be purchased separately. All measurements are approximate.
