LaVieilleCroix
Hand-crafted in the beautiful harbour village of St Aubin in the island of Jersey.
This piece is inspired by the type of cross that would have been in the medieval Abbey in the heart of Jersey’s Elizabeth Castle. The Abbey was destroyed in 1651 when Parliamentary forces landed in Jersey and bombarded the castle with mortars.
Today, the Castle’s parade ground and surrounding buildings are on the site of the destroyed Abbey.
LaVieilleCroix (the old cross) is a type of ‘crux gemmata’ (Latin for ‘jewelled cross’), in which the jewels denote a glorification of the cross. This piece features five Swarovski stones, including a large gold finish cross-shaped stone in the centre, set atop an ancient style manuscript.
This piece is crafted with metal and Swarovski crystals - this one is best seen for its Swarovski sparkle!
Framed in a repurposed frame, this piece measures 23cm x 18cm.

Please note that each piece of work is individually handmade and as such has unique pattern and colours. Photographs are representative of the colour and design. The final colour may appear slightly differently on your screen versus actual piece. Also, due to the challenges photographing some of the pieces and because of the materials used, light patterns may show in the photograph that are not on the item.
Items shown in pictures other than the actual piece of art are for display purposes only. Framed pieces are supplied with a wall hanger point on the back. The stands are not included but can be purchased separately. All measurements are approximate.
